RECOVER CPR Rescuer Certification BLS and ALS

Become certified in small animal Basic and Advanced Life Support! CPR guidelines published by the RECOVER Initiative are the foundation for this official veterinary CPR certification process approved by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. This engaging workshop will teach concepts and techniques of BLS and ALS.

Dr. Manuel Boller
DVM, MTR, MANZCVS(ECC), DACVECC

Dr Manuel (Manu) Boller is a board-certified veterinary Emergency and Critical Care specialist, educator, and clinical researcher. He is an internationally recognized expert in small animal resuscitation and author of numerous research publications and book chapters. He is co-chair and founding member of the RECOVER initiative which generated the first evidence-based veterinary CPR guidelines that are now widely accepted as the global standard in small animal resuscitation. After a career spanning from Switzerland, to the USA and Australia, he is now a critical care specialist at a referral hospital in British Columbia and an adjunct associated professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Calgary.

Dr. Kate Farrell
DVM, DACVECC, MAS

Dr. Kate Farrell received her veterinary degree from the University of California, Davis. She completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at Colorado State University, an emergency internship at UC Davis, and a residency in small animal emergency and critical care at UC Davis. Dr. Farrell is now an Assistant Professor of Clinical Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care at UC Davis. Areas of interest include mechanical ventilation, respiratory physiology, transfusion medicine, blood banking, and CPR.

Do Your Own Practice Valuation, For Career Transition Planning, and Practice Management

Dr. Salzsieder, and Rex Salzsieder will help attendees complete a work sheet, that will arrive at EBITDA, to calculate a rough fair market value, for their practice based on their financial reports and tax return they bring to the workshop. Session will open with class on the why and how.

Please bring the following documents with you: your 2024 tax return, business profit and loss statements, balance sheet, doctor production report, staff payroll records, and a calculator (if you prefer not to use your phone for calculations). We strongly encourage all spouses or partners involved in practice ownership to attend.

Dr. Karl Salzsieder
DVM, JD, CVA

Karl Salzsieder graduated veterinary school at WSU, CVM 1974. Before that he graduated from WSU, major in agriculture economics, so he has been very involved in management, consulting other doctors since 1980, even before law school graduation in 1989 (night school Lewis and Clark, NW Law), Portland. He represented practice buyers until 2010, when he became a licensee for Total Practice Solutions group, representing practice sellers. In the late 90’s, he has worked for Banfield as area manager, then started their first charter (or franchise) practice in Spokane. He sold his Longview, WA practice to his partner in 2005, and purchased the Yelm Veterinary Hospital. In 2017. He and his son and his practice manager purchased the Deschutes Animal Clinic. Both of those practices were sold to a corporation group in 2022. He now works parttime doing practice valuations, as a CVA and sales in a 9 western state area.

Terra Shastri
MBA

Terra Shastri provides career coaching for veterinarians and practice consultations for veterinary teams while spearheading strategic initiatives focused on mental health & well-being, and equity, diversity, and inclusion in the profession. She holds degrees in Communication Studies/Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and a mini- MBA: Management Essentials from the Schulich School of Business. As the Chief Experience Officer at the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association, she manages projects aimed at advancing the field. Terra contributes to veterinary publications on topics like client experience and management, and she has certifications in Leadership Excellence and Quality Service from the Walt Disney Institute, as well as in Carbon Literacy and Conscious Inclusion. Her innovative spirit is exemplified by her creation of the JumpStart Boot Camp workshop for veterinary teams.
